as a reliability engineer, in the maintenance, engineering and utilities division of cleveland-cliffs cleveland works, you can expect to work with area planners and project engineers to implement and monitor all predictive maintenance activities.

the following primary position responsibilities and key position requirements are intended to provide an overview of the position, but are not all-inclusive:

responsibilities assist development and review of vibration monitoring and analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, oil testing and analysis, ferrography, motor current evaluation integrate the use of predictive maintenance technologies work with area planners and project engineers to monitor status of pm compliance, and pm compliance for critical equipment help maintain pm database implement, review, and revise all pm jobs.  assure that pm activities are effective. facilitate root cause failure analysis, reliability-centered maintenance, maintenance task analysis, etc enabling the development of technically based equipment maintenance programs incorporating facility control standards driven by product characteristics, equipment life expectations, serviceability and cost. provide leadership and mentor others in deploying and maintaining the systems and methodologies ensuring equipment reliability participate in and coordinate resolution of complex equipment reliability technical problems involving multiple technical inputs (internal and external) partners with reliability engineers in other cleveland operating and maintenance divisions in fulfillment of the overall business plan. assures that the reliability centered maintenance (rcm) process is documented, to provide a focus on equipment reliability by incorporating facility control standards driven by product characteristics, equipment life expectations, serviceability and cost. assures the application of a risk based approach to prioritizing equipment reliability issues to ensure which ones should be worked on first, and leads the identification of appropriate technically based actions to mitigate risk. sets asset (i.e., bof, caster, lmf etc.) performance standards based on business unit goals set by the managers of electrical/mechanical maintenance. maintain a set of benchmarks of asset performance standards to understand relationship to world class. monitors & reports asset performance metrics against standards (failures, downtime & maintenance cost) to drive effectiveness. monitors & reports on equipment reliability process metrics to drive efficiency leads equipment performance review meetings to assure action are identified and executed addressing equipment performance gaps participates in project activities, in cooperation with plant continuous improvement engineers aimed at continuous incremental improvement of equipment reliability. assures rcm process is in place to develop and deliver the technically based equipment maintenance programs (i.e., the pm’s, or the decisions to modify or reengineer equipment; this is the end result of the rcm analysis.). audits rcm process against the equipment maintenance programs (emp) for efficiency and effectiveness. champion and drive transition and monitor progress of implementation of the self-directed work team concept in each department by encouraging participation, coaching team members, supporting team members. minimum requirements bachelor’s degree in engineering or minimum of 7 years of equivalent manufacturing/mill experience at least 5 years manufacturing experience, familiar with microsoft word, excel, and outlook preferred requirements at least 10 years of manufacturing experience ability to prioritize work/handle multiple projects, excellent interpersonal/communication skills, strong problem-solving/negotiating skills experience in team leadership towards implementation of reliability maintenance goals and objectives supervisory experience in a union environment   familiar with tabware software applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the united states on a full-time basis.  the company generally does not sponsor candidates for temporary visas or permanent residency for this position.
