job summary under general direction, the bar porter maintains sufficient stocks of bar items, cleanliness of bar area and provides efficient, timely, and courteous beverage service to our internal and external guests while providing clear and informative answers to all questions to enhance the overall guest experience. essential job functions immediately acknowledges and greets all arriving members, owners, and guests in a friendly and welcoming manner in accordance with departmental procedures. serves food and beverages to members, owners, and guests; anticipating their needs and responding promptly to any and all requests in a friendly and professional manner. maintains complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverage selections and respective pricing. stocks and replenishes all alcohol and supplies in the bar area.  maintains complete knowledge of table, seat, and station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and proper table set-up. provides exceptional customer service through good communication skills, professional interactions, body language and eye contact, to ensure customer satisfaction and enhance the overall culinary experience. extends a courteous and friendly departure to all members, owners, and guests; thanking them for dining with us and inviting them back again, with a genuine and professional demeanor. takes ownership of any guest problems and resolves them according to departmental guidelines. maintains knowledge and strictly abides by the state liquor regulations. completes all closing side work, inspecting cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all work areas and of the outlet itself. maintains and updates the standard par and stocking worksheets. completes all required company trainings and compliance courses as assigned. adheres to company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures. performs other related duties as assigned.

this position does not include any supervisory responsibilities. qualifications

education

high school diploma or equivalent. experience a minimum one (1) year of experience in the food & beverage customer service field required. no supervisory experience required. license & certifications health card - must be state/county-specific. food handler’s card - must be state/county-specific. alcohol awareness training certification - must be state/county-specific.  skills & abilities this position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions as well as knowledge and usage of correct business english and office practices.  must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers. specific skills and abilities include, but are not limited to the following: excellent customer service skills. proficient in time management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes. able to establish and maintain a cooperative working relation. able to use sound judgment; work independently, with minimal supervision. able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, with impending deadlines and/or established timeframes. performs well with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. recognizes an emergency situation and takes appropriate action. must be of legal age to serve alcohol. must be of legal age to sell alcohol. basic math skills. cash handling skills (the ability to count currency, make and count back change).
