Hse manager - united states, columbus (georgia)

we are seeking an hse manager to work with one of our most trusted clients, a stable manufacturing company with over 100 years in the business.

the hse manager will lead an incident free culture while protecting employees, the environment and employing proactive tools to ensure compliance as well as develop, implement, and maintain company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.

responsibilities:

• evaluate, assess and continuously improve safety, health, and environmental practices 

 • involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas, and work procedures and make environmental, health, and safety recommendations accordingly. 

 • responsible for compliance with their title v air permit, wastewater discharge permit, completing environmental reports, environmental training, adherence to environmental plans (spcc & contingency plan), conducting waste sampling, and completing environmental inspections. 

 • responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. 

 • participate in and support quality projects and initiatives to ensure that the company achieves its goals   

candidate profile:

• minimum of 5 years of related work experience in a lean manufacturing/repair environment 

• experience supervising crane, rigging and fire safety inspections from internal or 3rd party firms. 

 • well versed on confined space policies, procedures and trainings. 

• bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene or equivalent experience

• preferred qualifications: certified safety professional (csp) or certified industrial hygienist (cih) 

• strong project management; can set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently 

• tenacity for identifying opportunities for improvements and developing solutions
