the billing coordinator performs a variety of duties associated with preparation and entry of data into the practice management system including charges and demographics.

this position location is in tampa, fl
 
primary responsibilities:

responsibilities include following specific and established procedures regarding the input of billing information into the practice management system, which includes the review and processing of the claim including but not limited to electronic submission ensures the timely submission of primary and secondary claim maintains current working knowledge of cpt and icd 10 codes, required modifiers, and encounter data follows up with rebills, payer rejections, denials, transfers and purged accounts notifies the billing supervisor of issues arising from erroneous codes, missing information, error/edit messages or any other issues not covered by specific guidelines and procedures responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope performs other duties as assigned must have consistent, punctual and reliable attendance ability to work overtime based on business need uses, protects, and discloses patients’ protected health information (phi) only in accordance with health insurance portability and accountability act (hipaa) standards

required qualifications:

high school graduate, ged or equivalent  2+ years of experience in medical billing

preferred qualifications:

knowledge of billing requirements for: fee for service, health maintenance organization (hmo),  medicare and medicare advantage payers knowledge of cpt-4, icd-10 coding and medical terminology knowledge of primary care physician and hospitalist billing excellent keyboard and 10 key skills ability to communicate accurately and effectively and build positive working relationships throughout all levels of the organization
