Sales assistant £10.50 per hour part time permanent – cambridge cb2 1tb as a sales assistant you will help and serve members of the local running and fitness community on a day-to-day basis, using their specialist product knowledge to help customers find the products that are right for them. in addition, you will work with the company processes and procedures to maintain expert knowledge and outstanding customer service. your typical day as a sales assistant will include: providing a welcoming environment for both customers and visitors demonstrating and promoting excellent customer service dealing with customer enquiries and customer complaints and, where appropriate, pass on more complex enquiries to the shop manager or deputy manager process all customer transactions using our point of sale software using our gait analysis software to advise customers and recommend appropriate footwear for their running style helping to maintain the cleanliness of shop floor and storeroom areas and, where necessary, advise the manager of any relevant issues and concerns answering store email and telephone enquiries and ensuring that the manager is aware of all messages your responsibilities as a sales assistant are: potentially acting as a key holder and close the store and ensure that the store is locked safely and securely at the end of the day’s trading in the absence of senior sales/assistant manager or manager, cash up the day’s takings minimising the store’s costs through sensible use of petty cash and the monitoring of cost of utilities monitoring any shop health and safety issues and refer such concerns to the manager protecting the store against theft through vigilance and common sense procedures (e.g. do not leave the till open and unattended) supporting the manager/assistant manager in the delivery of training on products, new shop procedures and health and safety advice with the help of head office resources and suppliers acting as the point of contact between head office and store in the absence of the deputy manager/manager supporting your manager/assistant manager in the organisation and leading the weekly social run group as a sales associate, you are responsible for the maintenance of stock, this includes: helping to maintain logical and orderly storerooms and appropriate stock levels within all departments advising the manager of any items of stock that are running low or that customers are requesting helping to ensure that no nutrition on display are out of date and rotate product to maximise turnover ensuring all special customer orders are dealt with as soon as possible at the direction of your manager/deputy manager sales assistants will build and develop their knowledge together with up and running, this will include: developing and maintaining a full working knowledge with all aspects of the point of sales system that you are authorised to use completing the transfer/receipt of stock (including the processing of negative item lists) in order to ensure that stock figures are correct at the direction of your manager/deputy manager ensure faulty items are dealt with correctly and efficiently at the direction of your manager/ deputy manager maintaining an up to date knowledge of the technical specifications of items on sale developing and demonstrating an excellent working knowledge of the gait analysis keeping current knowledge of technical developments in clothing, footwear, equipment and training as a sales assistant, you will be required to assist with the marketing of the store, this will include: acting as the point of contact between the marketing department and the store at the direction of your manager/deputy manager supporting the promotion of the store and u&r through involvement with in-store and external promotions helping to ensure that the store is merchandised effectively and that the window displays are regularly updated for maximum impact supporting the development of in-store resources for runners and gym users e.g. lists of races, clubs, events and training advice supporting the organisation and the distribution of regular electronic mail outs to customers, club members and gym users etc. at regular intervals with support of head office supporting the organisation of sales and work to ensure that out of season stock is moved the above list of duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and sales assistants will be required to undertake such tasks as may be reasonably expected
