job summary
works well as a team member engaged in the maintenance, overhaul and repair of various compressor station equipment. dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble all types of compressor station equipment. cleans parts, inspects for wear, reconditions and repairs or replaces engine and compressor parts. realign and assemble mechanical equipment. start, check and adjust for proper operations. perform preventative maintenance inspections on operating equipment. assist in the construction of new stations or the modifications of existing stations. successful candidate will be required to travel to other compressors station sites to perform above duties.
duties and responsibilities
act as "lead person"engaged in maintenance and repair of compressor station equipment.
act as "lead person"in the following: maintenance, overhaul and repair of compressor station equipment.
dismantle all types of compressor station equipment, i.e. engines, compressors and pumps.
clean, inspect and repair vital parts of engines, compressors and pumps.
fit, realign and assemble equipment, i.e., engines, compressors and pumps.
starts up, check and adjust equipment for proper operation.
set timing and injection valve clearance to manufacturers operating specifications.
compile or furnish accurate information for compressor station reports.
make repairs to general tools, water pumps, air compressors, safety equipment, etc.
measures, cuts and threads pipe.
knowledge, skills and abilities
requires knowledgeable use of various hand tools, (e.g. wrenches, pipe cutters, dies, electric hand tools, feeler gauges, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc).
must be able to diagnose, dismantle, repair, assemble and perform maintenance on engines, compressors, auxiliary equipment and various other types of compressor station equipment.
must be able to comprehend written and verbal directions.
must be able to write in a clear and legible manner in paper form and on a computer.
requires the ability to operate gas engines, pumps and other mechanical equipment.
must be a good team player and be able to work cooperatively with management and co-workers.
must be able to work independently.
must be able to use a pc and/or hand held devices to complete work orders, enter data into job plans, creates new work orders, etc. in cmms (computerized maintenance management system, maximo or smart).
in the absence of a supervisor, may be required to act as a team leader.
education and experience
high school diploma or equivalent
