Founded in 1910 scudamore's is cambridge's premier punt tour and boat hire company. as we prepare for our main season we are looking for customer-focused and reliable people to work at our busy city centre punt stations. an important part of our operational team, we require candidates for the cashier role to be enthusiastic, outgoing and confident individuals who are happy to work in a fast-paced environment. whilst previous experience in a customer-facing role would be useful it is not essential as we provide all the skills and knowledge training you’ll need to launch your career with us. we operate a rolling recruitment programme, with regular training courses running from february 2022. both full and part time hours are available, and we would love to hear from you if you are keen to join our hardworking team! what's involved? as a cashier at scudamore’s you will meet and greet our guests on station, offering them a warm, attentive welcome and ensuring their needs are met. your duties will be varied, but ultimately your role is about 5 main things:- operating a welcoming, efficient and courteous ticketing and information service. bringing a high level of accuracy and security to payment handling and station administration. hosting and assisting our visitors, ensuring they feel looked after and valued. overseeing the hire of craft and the tours rota, helping customers with boarding and disembarkation. maintaining a safe working environment for all, both on station and on the water. what makes you a scudamore’s cashier? a cashier serving scudamore’s is always working on behalf of our clients and working together with other team members. to successfully fill this role requires the following aptitudes, behaviours and skills:- you’re friendly, approachable and enthusiastic, with great interpersonal skills. you enjoy engaging with people and are committed to providing outstanding customer service. you're organised and self-motivated, with a good attention to detail. you’re an excellent team-worker. you’re physically active, energetic and enjoy working outdoors. what would also help? previous experience of working in hospitality, retail or tourism. a good knowledge of cambridge. flexible availability with the ability to work weekends, bank holidays and school holidays. fluency in another language. experience of watersports activities. what’s the package? competitive pay, based on an hourly rate and shared sales commission. flexible working, with both full-time and part-time hours available. 28 days’ paid holiday per annum (pro rata for part-time staff). based at beautiful cambridge city centre locations. uniform and full training provided. special demands of the role this role is physically demanding and requires you to remain on your feet throughout the working day in various weather conditions. in addition, the punting element requires good balance and an appropriate level of fitness. please note, as with all of the other criteria above, these requirements may be tested at interview. need to know we operate an equal opportunities policy and recruit only on the basis of work criteria and individual merit. by law we are required to ensure that anyone taking up employment at scudamore's has a legal right to work in the uk and you will be required to demonstrate this.
