The parkview society 37 hours/week - torquay we currently have a vacancy at our residential scheme in torquay. this scheme supports both male and female residents recovering from mental health problems and provides support to other clients in the community. this is a rewarding role in an existing team, which is experienced and supportive. the staff team support clients with their involvement with community activities, personal organisation, accessing services, social and recreational activities and progress to greater independence. the society is a voluntary, non-profit organisation with charitable rules. we can offer you: - * a salary scale (dependent on skills, experience and qualifications) from gbp8.72 - gbp10 per hour * additional sleep-in allowance we need you to: - * be flexible and work shifts and sleep-in's on an advanced planned rota (including weekends) * preferably hold a full driving licence * preferably have some experience working in the support/care field please forward your cv and letter of application to: more information: closing date for applications: 20th february 2017. ref: 6-1a3c parkview society job description 1. job details title : support worker salary : location : castle road, torquay. 2. job purpose to assist the manager and other staff, in creating a supportive relationship with the residents of the home. to contribute towards establishing a comfortable and healthy environment for them to live in. the prime consideration of all staff is the welfare and well being of the residents. 3. dimensions financial: responsible for the safe keeping of petty cash and residents monies when on duty. also for cost effective purchasing for the home when out shopping. staffing: no direct supervisory responsibility for other staff, but will be involved in introducing new staff to their duties and will act as senior person on duty during sleep in shift. 4. organisation chart chairman/management committee chief officer | manager | senior support worker | support workers 5. knowledge, skills and experience required previous experience working with people with mental health problems or in a supportive situation desirable. skills in one more of the following areas: gardening, sewing, art, handicrafts, cooking, counselling. desire to reach nvq level 11. ability to make clear and concise written and verbal reports concerning residents. 6. key responsibilities 1. assist in general housekeeping and domestic duties throughout the home, involving residents as much as possible, helping to develop their skills and contributing to their well-being and confidence. 2. ensure that each resident receives and enjoys an appropriate diet by assisting residents in the preparation and serving meals in an attractive form. involving residents in both choice of menu and preparation of meals. 3. facilitate and accompany residents on shopping trips for both personal and home purchases, social outings and recreational activities within the local community thereby ensuring residents become involved in community life. 4. encourage residents to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, including, where appropriate, encouragement with washing, bathing, dressing, dental care, general grooming etc.. 5. assist with the implementation of agreed support plans and contribute ideas and suggestions towards helping residents make maximum use of their potential at appropriate reviews thereby providing residents with the opportunity for growth, practically, mentally and emotionally. 6. ensure manager/deputy manager is made aware of any incidents, accidents or complaints that arise during their absence in order that appropriate investigation and remedial action can be instigated. 7. visit residents living in the societies community homes provide support and guidance to them, when appropriate, to enable them to maintain an acceptable standard of living and independence. 8. liaise with the manager following visits and ensure they are made aware of any problems or concerns that arise during visits. 9. assist in ensuring all residents throughout the society receive a consistent level of support by complying with all society policies and procedures. 7. communication and working relationships relatives and friends of residents when visiting both within and outside the home. g.p.'s, dentists, social care staff, etc. - in connection with general health and welfare of residents. local shopkeepers during shopping trips. members of the public and neighbours in area surrounding home to maintain good public relations. volunteers, organiser's etc. of local activities and clubs that are attended by residents. job types: full-time, permanent salary: gbp8.72-gbp10.00 per hour benefits: * additional leave * company pension * flexible schedule * sick pay schedule: * 8 hour shift * day shift * night shift * overtime * weekend availability
