Title: support worker location: cambridge, cb22 nearest tube/station: cambridge wage/salary: £28,080 gross per annum | £15.00 gross per hour driver essential? yes, an automatic fully adapted car is available to use when on duty. essential: aptitude and desire to work with young adults with disabilities. must be comfortable with personal care. non-smoker. start date: asap days & hours: 36 contracted hours per week, 3 x 12-hour shifts family/client pets: none recruiter: rachael about this client/child: we are on the search for an experienced support worker to join jed’s team. jed is aged 18 and is an incredibly happy and cheerful young man with the most infectious giggle. jed enjoys hydrotherapy, watching tv and having stories read to him. jed has cerebral palsy and requires adult help for all his needs, including personal care. he is fed via a peg and uses eye gaze for his communication. he also has a smart wheelchair. overview of role: as jed’s support worker your role will be working alongside his parents and his support team to assist him with his daily routine and ensure he is comfortable. you will always be working alongside another carer as jed requires 2:1 care. you will be focusing on supporting jed with his personal care, moving and handling and accessing the community when required. jed goes to school at 9.00 am in the morning, and he comes home after 4.00 pm. during the hours you are on shift whilst jed is at school, you will assist the family with some light cleaning, shopping, preparing, and cooking jed’s food. the role offers a fixed 36-hour contract, three 12-hour shifts (7.00 am to 7.00 pm). there will be the opportunity to pick up additional hours. who this job would suit: we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive support worker. jed needs vibrant, positive and creative people who actively engage with him to bring out the best in him. for this position you must be comfortable supporting a young adult with physical disabilities. what’s great about this job: this role offers excellent training opportunities with jed’s full therapy team. you will be working 2:1 most of the time within the client's home so can focus all your skills and attention to help jed reach his potential. who is recruiting for this role? we are working in association with a private client/case manager on this vacancy; they will be carrying out all recruitment, including shortlisting and interviewing. by applying for this vacancy, you agree to us sending your cv and contact details to our client. please see our website for more information. ** mandatory vaccinations. this vacancy may be subject to mandatory coronavirus vaccinations. please see the news & blog section on our website for the latest updates.
