position summary and responsibilities

teledyne marine systems is seeking an experienced production planner. this role will encompass a wide variety of responsibilities including working with product line managers on translating the sales forecast into actionable forecasts in the erp system and making recommendations on forecast adjustments. responsible for the scheduling of work orders on the production floor and insuring material is available to build product to meet customer promise dates.  strong analytical skills along with demonstrated success in planning in a dynamic, ever changing, high mix, low volume environment is paramount to the success of the candidate.

essential duties and responsibilities:

revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, collaborating with management, sales, production, or engineeringidentifies critical part shortages collaborating with procurement and product line management to seek resolution and insure appropriate internal personal are notified in the event of customer shipment delayswork with procurement and production to ensure material is available to end users in time to meet customer commitmentsdevelop forecasts at multiple levels and over varying time horizons through close collaboration with product line managers and procurement teamreview historical sales trends and provide data to plm’s to facilitate improved decision makingwork with erp system to develop automated ways to load forecast data and drive all aspects of material while working to improve inventory turns and reducing overall inventory levelsdevelop standard delivery times for key products to allow for faster turn aroundreport monthly forecast variances to product line managersrecommend forecast adjustments based on statistical data reviewprovide lead time and delivery information to sales on non-standard product, using knowledge of all material and resourcesworking with engineering on phasing in and out of various products with the use of the systemreviewing eco’s to ensure proper revisions to products are being produceddevelop key forecasting processes using the erp systemparticipate in monthly siop meetingscandidate must possess u.s. citizenship or be a u.s. person

qualifications

education and experience:

bachelor's degree (b.a.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 2-5 years of directly related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experiencethorough understanding of bills of materialknowledge of mrp and working with various erp systemsproficient in excel; experience with all msoffice productsexcellent communications skills both written and verbalexperience with ifs preferred

job knowledge, skills and abilities:

strong analytical skills demonstrated success in planning in a dynamic, ever changing, high mix, low volume environmentfamiliarity with inventory control and transactionsability to handle multiple competing prioritiesability to rapidly response to requests for informationcommunicate clearly to all levels within the organization (verbal and written)
