overview

at sentry, the information security engineer will build, automate, implement, and maintain secure solutions. the engineer delivers these solutions in accordance with sentry’s architectural designs, best practices, and regulatory or compliance requirements.  this includes working with internal and vendor applications, hardware, software, and a variety of teams across the organization to deliver adequate monitoring solutions that mitigate risks while meeting business objectives. as risks change, the security engineer is responsible for recommending modifications and enhancements to ensure the organization is evolving with the threat landscape.

the security engineer is expected to contribute to the corporate security strategy with security leadership and other senior security staffers and technologists. you will utilize in-depth knowledge to address issues identified through monitoring or audit findings and implement solutions that protect the organization. you will also serve as subject matter expert for assigned platforms, cloud security, and the zero trust security model.  the security engineer will help identify security disrupters to the marketplace that sentry needs to be aware of.

this position will be located at either our stevens point, wi or madison, wi office.

what you'll do help design and implement security technologies that help sentry meet its business goals, including cloud (aws and o365), multifactor authentication, and data loss prevention. build and mature automation for improving security processes across the organization.  (powershell and jenkins knowledge helpful) actively participate and lead security team meetings that facilitate secure design. recommend and implement new features and functions within platforms to streamline processes and enable continuous deployment of new capabilities. build, configure and define requirements of assigned security and technology platforms ensuring accurate, consistent, and compliant configuration and documentation. provide moderate to complex technical maintenance services and oversees implementation of patches to integrated security systems and solutions ensuring continuous availability and operation. this includes providing recommendations and maintaining information security policies, procedures, and systems. assist with audits to identify security vulnerabilities and undertake necessary actions to eliminate identified threats. implement architectural changes when intrusions occur and monitors effectiveness of implemented changes. create reports to summarize findings to management. ensure that security plans, controls, processes, standards, policies and procedures are aligned with overall information standards. identify security risks and exposures, determines the causes of security violations, and suggest procedures to halt future incidents and improve security. respond to and handle service and escalation tickets within sla expectations. assist security architecture in creating and maintaining security standards.what it takes bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.  5+ years of related work experience experience in cloud computing technologies, including software-, infrastructure and platform-as-a-service.  aws experience a plus. demonstrated experience with windows, linux, audit, and compliance systems possess strong knowledge of internet security, client/server, cloud security, data loss prevention, active directory, certificate infrastructure and network security previous scripting or programming experience with powershell beneficial. knowledge of zero trust concepts and principals beneficial. possess strong communication skills, human relation skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills. professional certification, such as aws, azure, cissp, ccsp, cisa, cism, cpp, gsec, issmp, issap,  is beneficial. working experience in compliance, audit or security frameworks such as itil, cobit, or iso.what you'll receive
