position overview
the accountant is responsible for financial reporting activities for wiring systems. this role will support the wiring systems accounting leader to accurately reflect the financial performance of the businesses.
the first task of this role would be to complete a fixed assets verification review which means the candidate will physically identify all the fixed assets at the shelton, ct location.
key responsibilities
serve as key point of contact for wiring systems financial reporting
provide finance support to the sales and operations team
establish and maintain robust controls and compliance with hubbell policy and procedures
support internal and external audits including providing documentation for compliance with sox key controls
complete monthly closing journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis
provide support for preparing and loading annual operating budget and monthly forecasts
assist in execution of annual physical inventories
execute fixed assets physical in accordance with company policy
maintain responsibility for routine calculation of accruals including program accruals
work with wiring systems project manager to accurately record capital purchases from acquisition and depreciation through disposal
identify opportunities to increase the efficiency of the close process through enhancement of existing procedures and utilization of financial systems and tools
assist in process improvement initiatives
complete ad hoc financial information requests and various special projects as needed
experience/education requirements
3-4 years accounting experience, preferably within a multi-site manufacturing organization
bs in accounting/finance required, good understanding of gaap
excellent working knowledge of transactional accounting and internal controls | sox
sap, hfm and onestream knowledge is helpful
intermediate knowledge of ms excel (v-lookup, pivot tables) and powerpoint
knowledge of power bi is helpful
experience in continuous improvement initiatives and implementing finance and accounting best practices
self-starter who can work independently and employs time management skills to meet stated deadlines
ability to communicate effectively and enlist cooperation in all areas impacting performance goals
