job overview:
the successful candidate would provide support to our engineering staff by preparing concept, design, and detailed drawings using 3d autocad software (at a minimum) following drafting best management practices/standards. must be able to apply the principles of marine/nautical design incorporating structural, mechanical, and electrical elements, in u.s. standard and/or metric units. autocad skills a must; and ship constructor, rhinoceros, and other 3d software experience a definite plus. at least 5 years of actual marine cad design experience preferred, but we willing to train the right entry level person with a superior skill set.
essential duties and responsibilities:
• prepare conceptual and/or detail engineering drawings for ship modifications, conversions, new construction, and shore facilities
• convert 3d scan output files into useable 3d models
• convert drawing files to a useable format (ex. autocad to pdf)
• reproduce original “hand-drawn” drawings into electronic autocad files in an efficient,
expeditious, and professional manner
• make final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project
• draw finished designs from sketches
• additional duties as assigned
