position summary:
opex is a global leader in robotic warehouse automation system design, development, manufacturing, production, installation, and service. our warehouse automation systems incorporate the latest mechanical, electrical, robotic and software technologies. the system test engineer will perform hw/sw system integration validation and performance characterization activities for the opex warehouse automation system test engineering team. this position will work with robotic automation systems consisting of sw and hw and requires an individual who thrives on working in a hands-on, laboratory environment and is also comfortable analyzing data and formulating innovative approaches to put the systems through their paces to verify proper operation, performance and usability.

responsibilities

help define and develop test engineering strategies and detailed test plans to validate new technologies and products under development.execute system level hardware/software integration validation and performance characterization activities.analyze test data and product logs to ensure proper operation and identify any anomalies.track test progress, document issues found and produce regular progress reports.convert large amounts of data into a clear summary for communicating to stakeholders at all levels.work closely with the warehouse automation hardware/software product development teams to ensure alignment of validation and characterization plans, as well as investigate, reproduce and resolve product defects.continually improve test infrastructure and architectures; look for innovative ways to automate practices, drive efficiencies and improve test coverage.participate in design reviews and make recommendations to support overall test strategy.

minimum qualifications

bachelor's in engineering or computer scienceability to look at complicated hw/sw architectures from a systems level perspective to create efficient test validation strategies.ability to troubleshoot hardware/software systems and identify bugs.experience creating validation plans for hardware/software platform products including developing test methodologies for new features and technologies.excellent communication skills to drive issues to resolution across cross-functional teams.a strong sense of ownership and a desire to drive progress and resolve issues.

preferred qualifications

knowledge and understanding of programming languages (c++, python).strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to work with large amounts of dataknowledge of database query language (mysql, postgresql, etc.)experience developing requirements driven test plans and test casesfamiliarity with issue tracking and collaboration software such as jira, confluence, etc.experience working with test automation tool chains and test software development.understanding of agile methodology for hardware/software development

physical/work environments

requires working in an office, lab, and production environments with occasional travel to customer sites.ability to operate a lab machine during testingability to stand, move, and handle product during testingsome walking between opex facilitiesability to periodically handle machine equipment up to 50 lbs. and work with product up to 25 lbs.knowledge and understanding of programming languages (c++,python); strong analytical skills, knowledge of mysql, postgresql, etc.
