general description

knowledgeable and understands laws regulating one call system and company policies and procedures regarding the location of gas distribution facilities. accurate and timely location of company facilities. creates and or maintains a positive rapport with customers, contractors, excavators and location requesters. has knowledge and understanding of customer’s needs, concerns and expectations. performs work duties and tasks to meet customer expectations.

primary responsibilities

• reviews daily ticket requests, prioritizes them to be efficient and effective in completing daily requirements through ticket management system

• performs timely and accurate locates, including positive response to each ticket

•  contacts and cooperates with co-workers in other departments and outside contractors to obtain necessary information to complete locate requests and insure construction near major facilities meets company policies and procedures.

• completes documentation of locate requests in the ticket management system

• reports back to planning and design any errors found in gis mapping

• attend one call meetings as directed

additional responsibilities

• must meet performance criteria set for a locator i

• knowledgeable of state and company damage prevention regulations

• knowledge of basic utility construction standards

• knowledgeable of gis mapping and company records

• knowledgeable of the types of locate equipment,  their functions and where to use different types of equipment

• ability to communicate with excavators or others relevant information in regards to their locate request

• ability to educate excavators how to prudently dig around our facilities

• attend pre-construction meetings when requested to explain the location of our facilities and potential conflicts with the proposed work

• knowledge of, promote, support and participate in the company’s employee recognition program

• assists with other duties as assigned

knowledge & skill requirements

• ability to solve problems and perform daily requirements with minimal supervision

•  excellent communication and customer relation skills.

•  ability to assist in damage prevention efforts and data collecting

•  maintain a very low to no damages due to incorrectly marked lines

•  ability to respond to emergency locate requests including after hours

•  ability to respond to facility damages, assist with the investigation, collect data

•  computer skills including ticket management system, gis mapping, microsoft office

•  normal level of visual and hearing ability.

•  valid driver’s license

•  follow company safety rules, regulations, procedures, policies and manuals.

•  performs work tasks and activities in a safe and conscientious manner.
