the role you’ll contribute: under the direction of the patient services supervisor of the nutrition services department, this position performs duties, both clerical and clinical, to ensure the nutritional needs of patients are being met and/or addressed.  to that end, this position:

answers the phone, processes orders for the provision of nutrition care and counseling, prepares patient menus according to nutrition care manual of the academy of nutrition and dietetics, assists clinical dietitians and director through assigned data gathering activities, and forwards appropriate referrals/information to the clinical dietitians.

demonstrates complete and current knowledge of regular and therapeutic diets commonly ordered at adventhealth hospital. conveys all pertinent information, including dietary consults and referrals, to appropriate members of the nutrition services team in a timely manner, ensuring accurate, judicious communication. maintains accurate, current patient kardexes in the diet office. demonstrates knowledge and abilities to perform al duties associated with patient menus, including, but not limited to: daily preparation and delivery to patients, timely completion for distribution, corrections(s) after completion, as needed, and on-going updating, addition, and/or removal as patients are discharged, transferred, and diet order changes occur. maintains adequate quantities of patient menus and office supplies for the diet office to ensure efficient, effective delivery of services to patients. qualifications

the expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

minimum qualifications:

strong communication skills, both written and verbal. excellent customer service skills. strong organizational skills. dietary, nutrition, food service experience

preferred qualifications:

knowledge of diet office in the healthcare setting computer skills with microsoft word, microsoft outlook, internet, and current hospital patient care computer program high school graduate or equivalent successful completion of dtr program and currently credentialed one (1) to three (3) years of experience in acute care setting
