job summary

perform moderately complex functions in the design, fabrication, modification and/or evaluation of manufacturing operations. may prepare complicated plans, conduct support studies, and provide analysis or tests in the development of manufacturing operations. may assign work to drafters and/or technicians and provide guidance to lower level engineers. 



job responsibilities

support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization develop manufacturing process plans, test requirements, manufacturing flow, and capacity plans.  review detail designs for manufacturability and producibility. develop and document work instructions to support building of product based on requirements. act as the technical lead for all floor support and mrb/dr disposition. develop key technologies to integrate advanced manufacturing techniques and tooling to shop floor, which improve safety, quality and cost. support production by providing required tool list and design of specialty fixture/tooling. lead the edm/fai process to insure new products are transferred into the production processes successfully. develop a pfmea (process, failure, mode, effect, and analysis) to ensure manufacturing processes have proper repeatability, safety, and evaluate potential failures for our customers, as well as, establish material flow and work cell layout for specific programs. communicate requirements for manufacturability to design engineering team, optimizing manufacturing, safety, quality, and cost efficiencies. review ecos with focus on “how & when” drawing content, impacts the work instruction and build sequence. support team events within manufacturing work cells for identification, implementation and measurement of improvements.
 

qualifications

bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field with 5+ years applicable engineering experience 3+ years’ experience as a manufacturing/mechanical/electrical engineer ability to communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing.  proficiency in microsoft word and autocad or visio desired.  deltek systems knowledge also helpful. experience reading wire schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical prints experience creating work instructions, routings, and instructions for assembly  experience with single piece flow, sheet metal mfg, welding and cable harnessing.   u.s. citizenship required

additional desirable qualifications

knowledge of 3 phase power systems, power electronics, control systems, switchgear, motors, mg sets, programmable controllers, electromechanical energy conversion and synchronous machines.   knowledge of military specifications and knowledge of navy electrical systems desirable.

physical requirements

position requires ability to perform work involving:  lifting, walking, climbing, bending, sitting, standing, stooping, and communicating both verbally and in written form.  work performed in a climate-controlled, well-lit clean manufacturing and office area. occasionally lift and or move items up to 35 lbs.
