main objective: senior staff accountant – family office reports to sr. manager – family office controller and performs the gl close, balance sheet and income statement analysis and reporting including consolidation activities for family office entities.

essential duties and responsibilities:

manage the general ledger close process for all family office entities review and reconcile monthly investment statements to the general ledger including p&l impacts review and analyze transactions and accounts using technical judgement to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately review and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly for all family office entities, ensure ownership percentages are consistent with expected, and resolve any reconciling differences in a timely manner prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for family office entities including quarterly financial consolidation maintain and oversee fixed assets accounting assures that financial reports are accurate and identifies, resolves, and implements processes to mitigate and prevent problems and errors; eliminates monthly close inefficiencies by reducing process times and works with others in the  department to streamline processes and resolve process bottlenecks and improve reporting accuracy assures that financial reports are accurate and identifies, resolves, and implements processes to mitigate and prevent problems and errors responsible for maintaining procedure write-ups and checklists for the monthly close process, policy, and procedures help support book versus tax work papers to assist tax team reconcile various notes receivable/payable quarterly and related accrued interest prepare and submit external reporting schedules to government entities as required help research new accounting standards, calculation of impacts of proposed regulations the position may mentor others in the department other ad-hoc projects

education and experience:

bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

mba/cpa preferred

a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required. 

knowledge and skill requirements/specialized courses and/or training:

knowledge of current us gaap regulations regarding financial reporting ability to think, act, and work independently with high attention to detail and strong problem solving abilities detail-oriented excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills required working knowledge of pcs, databases, and general office equipment

machine, tools, and/or equipment skills:

proficient in microsoft office applications o365. experience with sei archway platform, sage fas, and ibm tm1 a plus.  intermediate to advanced knowledge of microsoft excel formula writing and macros required.
