the role reports to the production development specialist and is located in athens, tennessee. as a machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments out of metal. includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures.



your responsibilities

machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, wire edm’s, or grinders.use all measuring tools applicable to machining (micrometer, vernier, and indicator.).set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.read blueprints and work from product drawings.



your background

high school diploma and 2 year of relevant experience. candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for abb in the us. knowledgeable in the fabrication, processes and operation of machine shop equipment cnc milling/ wire edm experience a plusdependable, energetic, and detail-orientedcandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for abb in the us
