the defense group of leidos has an exciting opportunity for a transformation/modernization solutions architect to support efforts for the navy-marine corps intranet (nmci) portion of the next generation enterprise network re-compete (ngen-r) service management, integration, and transport (smit) contract.


ngen-r smit is the navy’s largest it services program valued up to $7.7 billion over 8 years. the leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the nmci, including cybersecurity services, network operations, network engineering, end user support, service desk, and data transport. 

network transformation/modernization (nt/m) is a continuous process that will modernize the nmci network infrastructure to include compute, storage, network, wan, lan, ban, and other additional existing network infrastructure. network transformation will provide a continuous evolution of new technologies, solutions, and services, including non-it. network transformation will standardize and simplify nmci to increase operational efficiencies.


play a critical role in the network transformation/modernization (nt/m) process for executing network optimization, improving efficiency of services, and enhancing network design that meets the navy’s future warfighting and business needs for global service delivery.


this position is remote/virtual preferably near o’fallon, il or washington metropolitan area (wma).


what you'll get to do:
•serve as the technical sme in executing the network transformation/modernization (nt/m) process used to prioritize and plan projects totaling up to $125m per year.
•lead the technical collaboration with senior u.s. department of the navy stakeholders and senior leidos technical experts in developing strategy, goals, and objectives.
•lead small teams of technical experts and government stakeholders to identify service needs and the projects to fulfill those needs. 
•lead assessment of technical data on the “as-is” environment to identify current and projected service gaps across all service providers and then rationalize these gaps that align to u.s. department of the navy’s strategy for targeting candidate initiatives. 
•analyze nt/m projects to substantiate customer/user requirements and assess alternative solutions.
•liaison with cto, technical leads, and it industry experts to research and document emergent relevant technologies and services as well as industry adoption trends.  
•work with the leidos chief engineer, chief network architect, and domain architects in developing and updating the transformation technology roadmap.
•update and maintain the 5-year nt/m roadmap for how over 80 systems and services can be modernized/transformed to deliver better value and capability to the u.s. department of the navy.
•develop and update key deliverables, working with domain architects for analysis of alternatives, business case analysis, and high-level project plans for selected nt/m projects.
•work with the domain architects to develop technical assessments by collecting and analyzing data to assess the projects’ impact on existing site environment (facility, servers, storage, network, and non-it) for recommendation. 
•work with nt/m team members in identifying areas for process improvement.
•provide ad-hoc support to nt/m team as needed. 


you'll bring these qualifications:
•bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or master’s degree with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.
•minimum 4 years of working as a solutions architect with it networks (lan/ban, wan).
•u.s. citizen and dod secret clearance with ability to upgrade to ts/sci clearance (if needed).
•self-starter with the ability to lead and multi-task independently and as part of a team.
•strong communication and collaboration skills with technical experts and senior government staff.
•experience developing and maintaining analysis of alternatives, business case analysis, and technical assessment.
•experience with preparing and presenting briefings to senior management and stakeholders.
•strong business acumen and analytical skills with experience in project planning and processes, including modeling and sensitivity analysis.
•understanding of financial concepts such as total cost of ownership, return on investment, net present value, and internal rate of return.
•proficiency with microsoft office suite, especially access, word, excel, powerpoint, and project.
•ability to travel as needed to support internal and customer engagements.


these qualifications would be nice to have:
•4+ years of previous experience working in a large matrixed organization.
•successful track record in planning and executing on it services programs.
•working knowledge of the itil framework and best practices.
 




pay range:

pay range $113,100.00 - $174,000.00 - $234,900.00
