the surgical technologist ii facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. this role requires an intense awareness of the entire surgical environment with specific attention to adequately anticipate the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other surgical team members. the role provides other surgical tech team members with direction of technical expertise. they will support the surgical charge rn in scheduling, training, and prioritizing work for others. they will also act as a conduit between senior leadership and the work team, as needed. they will provide visibility for surgeon by sponging, suctioning, retracting tissue and hemostasis, under the supervision and direction of the surgeon performs skin closure by suturing or stapling, and apply appropriate wound dressing as directed by surgeon.
qualifications
completion of high school diploma or equivalent, required.
completion of surgical technician program, required.
completion of a two year associate degree program preferred.
certified surgical technologist, required.
certified in surgical assist/skin closure technique course required.
basic life support cpr (aha healthcare provider) required at hire or within 60 days.
two years of working experience as a certified surgical technologist (cst) required.
