role description: the system administrator must have at least 5+ years of experience. in this role, you will be responsible for the internal or customer administration, maintenance and management of capacity resources for computers at the operating system and infrastructure level. 

responsibilities:

- builds, configures, troubleshoots and integrates new and existing servers to provide service enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades. 

- sets up administrator and service account, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. 

- recommends software and hardware enhancements, diagnoses and corrects issues, defines and implements new services with the goal of achieving maximum server uptime and availability for the customers. 

- responsible for monitoring performance, system usage. 

- contributes towards the disaster recovery plan (drp), backup systems and disk configurations.

- conducts system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.

required experience and skills:

- minimum 2 years of experience working in a linux/unix and microsoft environment

- performs performance analysis on operating systems including microsoft and/or rhel (7 & 8)

- minimum 2 years of experience with application administration

- familiar with build automation (kickstart, ansible, chef, bash

- familiarity with bash scripting

- experience with linux network configurations (nic and network configurations

- experience with virtualization (kvm or vmware hypervisor)

- experience managing system services

- experience with ldap/active directory (ipa)

- experience with seim tools

- familiarity with firewall/acl concepts, and concepts of tcp/udp ports

- familiarity with docker (container concepts and theory)

- recommends and implements engineering design changes required to adapt technical requirement

- performs daily review of relevant system logs and identifies problem areas or trends and takes the proper action and generates required reports

- support reviews, development, creation, and redline of plant-in-place documentation of tables, specifications, characteristics, schedules, diagrams, rack elevations, and other technical data elements

- support critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours

- generates, collects, redlines, incorporates, and produces system documentation as required

- business travel up to 10%

- work will be performed on site

qualifications:

education:

- bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or

- 2 years post-secondary/associates degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience, or

- graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience

- department of defense (dod) top secret security clearance is required

- dod 8570.01m iat 2 certification is required (security+, network+, or cissp)

preferred additional skills:

- demonstrated kubernetes/docker skills

- experience in the management of directory services (ad, ldap), interfaces and middleware

- experience with build automation (kickstart, ansible, chef, bash).

- experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (ci/cd), devsecops, build management, and/or automated test frameworks

- familiarity with rest api

- experience in agile software development lifecycle

- experience with server hardware configurations (ilo, smart array, raid, etc.)

- experience with devops tools (ansible, packer, etc.)

- hardware/software requirement verification/system validation experience

- demonstrated ability to work and grow in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment

- demonstrated self-starter - efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent tasks

- experience with satellite server/spacewalk capabilities

- experience with relational databases such as marklogic, mariadb

education: bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical/electronic engineering, information technology or another related field or equivalent
