Senior administrator, systems administration (linux) - united states, zaranj

The senior linux systems engineer will diagnose and resolve complex live system problems and provide critical system architecture support. the individual will be responsible to adhering to industry and organizational security compliance standards and best practices (such as pci dss).

what you'll do:

the linux systems engineer will utilize experience to specify, design, implement, document, test, troubleshoot and deploy it system solutions. the individual will be responsible for working with our system administrators and management staff on day-to-day operations and new project implementations.the individual will serve as a resource assisting in the design and review of various network/storage/server configurations during the deployment process of solutions. the individual will also periodically perform auditing and testing of infrastructure to ensure the security/functionality of our network components.analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develops and implements strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.perform related projects and duties as assigned.

who you are:

high school diploma or equivalent with prior related work experience required; bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred.5+ years' system engineering experience.3+ years of aws experience.8+ years' experience with redhat/ubuntu linux-based server administration.knowledge with apache, tomcat, nginx, haproxy, gitlab, spacewalk and owncloud.thorough understanding of network protocols.thorough expertise in protocol standards such as: ipv4, ipv6, arp, vlan.a high degree of experience with layer 3-7 protocol standards such as dns, dhcp, https.experience with design, implementation and maintenance of vmware esx version 6.5+.familiarity with network authentication protocols and tools such as ldap and kerberos.audits computing environment configurations to support ongoing solution development and testing functions.develops, recommends and executes changes to complex systems.typically leads moderately complex projects and participates in larger, more complex initiatives.solves complex technical and operational problems.acts as a resource for teammates with less experience. may have people management responsibilities for a small team.effective communications and interpersonal skills.ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.strong understanding of audit standards and best practices.strong analytical and organizational skills.must be able to pass a background and credit checks.payment processing or other financial services experience preferred.
