Construction manager/ electrical-mechanical inspector 028 - united states, rockhampton

u.s. facilities, inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking a construction manager - electrical inspector to provide construction and maintenance oversight on assigned projects for the virginia department of transportation (vdot) - hampton roads district. the qualified candidate will assure contractor compliance with plans and contract documents, manage onsite work inspections and material quality control, publish regular activity reports, progress documentation, oversee project schedules, and fulfill other project duties as assigned.

duties include:

promotes a safe work environment, both on the project and in the office, for staff, visitors, and the public.reviews and interprets project plans, contract documents, specifications, product submittals, wiring diagrams, and schematics to ensure successful project constructability.identifies plan/specification discrepancies and reports findings to supervisors; determines impacts to the project for both vdot and the contractor.makes recommendations for partial and final payments to the contractor according to project progress and items of work completed.monitors project budgets/schedules and recommending project adjustments to supervisors.co-conducts pre-construction conference, utility coordination meetings, construction progress meetings, and other types of conferences and meetings.prepares professional correspondence and documentation.recommends resolution of field construction problems and design changesassists with review and execution of work orders.reviews recommendations and requests made by project staff, client, and supervisors; takes appropriate action within approved guidelines.fulfills any other work-related duties as assigned by supervisors and/or the u.s. facilities project manager.

qualifications:

education:

high school diploma or ged

license/registrations:

virginia dpor master electrician or journeyman electrician able to attain master license within 90 days (required)osha 10 (required); osha 30 (preferred)virginia driver's license in good standing (required)

minimum requirements:

active master or journeyman electrician certified by virginia dpor whose majority experience is with three phase electrical systems in an industrial environment.minimum of ten (10) years of experience in electrical and mechanical construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects.knowledge of specialized equipment for field and shop testing of electrical and mechanical components in accordance with national electrical code.knowledge of roadway, structure and bridge, traffic engineering, and other highway related construction methods, procedures, practices, plans, specifications, and contract delivery.knowledge of environmental, legal, and safety responsibilities related to construction of transportation facilities.knowledge of temporary traffic control devices and installation procedures, traffic signs and structures, pavement marking/markers, and messages.ability to work independently and assemble detailed information in report and contract form.ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strength and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers.proficient in the operation of ms office programs to include word and excel; experience using cadd is a plus.

note: this position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. vdot/contract management will determine when essential positions are required.
