description:

• responds to customer inquiries and service requests; manages employee computer accounts and access; resets passwords; research access rights and modifies employee access for multiple systems.
• documents all service requests and resolutions to in service request system; takes note of trends and common problems; determines if issues are city- or department-wide or unique to individual employee; provides information and technical support; analyzes, troubleshoots, and utilizes customized and commercial tools to resolve issues related to network connectivity, personal computer and mobile devices, hardware and software, and peripherals; works with vendors to resolve problems; escalates unresolved issues.
• utilizes an asset management system to track hardware and software assets; accounts for items in stock, receipt of new equipment, back orders, and returns; issues equipment to departments and accepts returns; provides related inventory reports as needed; organizes and maintains the equipment storage area and ensures that it is secure.
• coordinates projects, such as computer replacements and software installations.

required skills and experience
• general knowledge of the characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of personal computer and mobile device hardware and related peripherals; principles of networks and associated protocols; standard word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing applications; desktop and mobile operating system functionality and configurations; troubleshooting techniques for computer hardware and mobile devices, peripherals, software and network connectivity; and inventory control procedures.
• ability to analyze and define problem sources and execute established solutions based on the computing environment; communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing; prepare written materials using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation; comprehend and follow complex written and oral directions.
• communicate effectively with individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and culturally diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; clearly and concisely communicate step-by-step directions to customers; use sound judgment in applying established guidelines; and review inventory reports for accuracy and identify and resolve discrepancies.
• proficiency to safely operate tools associated with moving, installing, and maintaining computers and peripherals.

minimum qualifications
• aa, as degree in computer science, information technology networking, or security, or the equivalent.
• two (2) years of experience in a combination of the following: computer hardware and software support, network resource administration, customer support services.
• note: an equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
• comptia a+ certification must be obtained within one year of date of appointment.
• microsoft technology associate (mta) certification must be obtained within one year of date of appointment.
• must possess and maintain a valid client or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by nrs 483.

payment for services
• vendor may submit invoices for services rendered on a monthly basis. invoices must identify the resource name, hourly rate, hours worked, total cost and a short description of services provided.
