summary:
responsible for working with quality, engineering, manufacturing, sales and rfs team to write technical document to facilitate customers in operating and maintaining their equipment. handles special projects, as assigned.
job duties/responsibilities
under general supervision, develop technical manuals for drilling consumable product line. under general supervision, write manuals in a logical and easy to follow manner. collaborate with equipment design team. under general supervision, utilize current manufacturing/business systems for basic cost, inventory and purchasing information assist supervisor with technical training and professional development of others under general supervision, perform product testing functions in a test lab facility perform other assignments as directed; including photographing and filming fat on completed equipment and completing databooks for the end users undertake all duties in a safe and efficient manner, promoting safe working practices, complying with all company policies including but not limited to the forum energy technologies code of conduct and osha safety rulesskills/knowledge
intermediate knowledge of oilfield products especially mud pump fluid end products, valves and centrifugal pumps, and washpipes. in-depth understanding of manufactured components in-depth understanding of the operational use of components technical writing experience for manufactured oilfield products ability to physically validate documented procedures in technical manual ability to install and assemble equipment with torque wrenches, lifting equipment, etc. ability to read drawings and technical documents ability to photo render products in 3d cad system able to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner maintain skill in operating a personal computer, including word processing, spreadsheets.physical demands
hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers, and work with assembly related tools used to install oilfield equipment. while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. the employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
work environment
work is performed mostly in office settings and manufacturing environments. the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, near areas with equipment under pressure, in high or precarious places, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration where the noise level can be moderate to high. adherence with forum’s hse policies is mandatory and appropriate personal protection equipment (ppe) must be worn at all times.
travel
occasional (10%-20%) domestic and international travel may be required. working hours during traveling can mean early starts and late finishes.
manufacturing facility including test lab facility is located approximately 1 hour driving distance from the office, in the houston texas area. occasional driving to this facility in their personal automobile is required.
