summary – job responsibilities – activities:
amsc has an opening for a process engineer for manufacturing of textured metal foils as substrates for high temperature superconductor wire. the successful candidate should have a strong background in thin film deposition processes including familiarity with reactive thin film deposition of exipatial layers, as well as manufacturing techniques of metal deformation and annealing as well as surface cleaning. experience with the analysis and inspection of metal foils is desired. he/she will work in close collaboration with r&d scientists and must be able to effectively work on a number of simultaneous tasks within a fast paced environment. previous experience in transferring an r&d process to a pilot manufacturing line is a definite plus.
functions:
process responsibilities for slitting, cleaning and annealing of metal foils in reel-to-reel equipment.interaction and troubleshooting with external vendors.increase process and equipment robustness, ongoing process improvements and failure analysis.development of production infrastructure including process documentation (wi, sop, material specs), spc tracking, preparation of reports documenting process status.support in commissioning of pilot line equipment and qualification of process on new equipment.training and supervision of technicians and operators. operation and maintenance of cleaning station, furnaces, and inspection stationeducation – experience:
b.s. or m.s. in metallurgy, materials science or related field with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment.required skills, competencies, authorities and training needs:
