this position will be working in dr. vishwajeet puri’s lab .

the primary responsibility of this position is to conduct research that leads to independent funding from non-federal as well as federal agencies. the successful candidate is expected to advise and co-mentor students and trainees as well as assist in research aiming at delineating novel mechanisms underlying metabolic disease including obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. this may include but is not limited to: assisting in optimizing molecular biology and genetic approaches, in vivo metabolic and cardiovascular phenotyping, data collection and analysis, and other research tasks.

the successful candidate is expected to:
- maintain exemplary attention to environmental safety and health issues
- interact with other faculty members, researchers, and laboratory and
university staff to maintain a high level of collaborative effort
- conduct independent research
- secure grant applications to federal and non-federal agencies
- secure publication in peer-reviewed journals
- assist in mentoring students and trainees on experimental design and
conduct
- provide training on manuscript submission and presentations at annual
meetings
- participate in determining specification and purchase of instrumentation
- identify resources for external grants to purchase and run specific core
instruments
- coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and repairs, as needed.

minimum qualifications -phd, md, or do in medicine, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, or
physiology in the metabolic disease field
-3 years work related experience
-3 years managerial or supervisory responsibilities
