essential duties and responsibilities:

designs components or functional systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. provides consultation in one or more areas of design, development, and implementation of technical products or systems. recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. supports maintenance of design history file for assigned projects, adhering to arthrex design control procedures. provides regulatory department technical support for assigned projects as needed. supports manufacturing to provide processing improvements. determines necessity of testing and initiates testing of assigned products supports maintenance of design history file for assigned projects, adhering to arthrex design control procedures. determine applicable design inputs/requirements based on user needs & feedback from product management. support the generation of a design risk management file, including but not limited to the creation of a dfmea. reports progress and status of assigned projects on a timely basis to engineering manager. may require travel to attend trade shows, visit established accounts as well as prospective accounts and suppliers. international travel may be required.

education/experience

2 years of experience. bachelor of science degree in engineering required.  mechanical engineering preferred.

skills:

experience with product development from concept and testing to production release  understanding of electro-mechanical design principals. proficient in 3d-cad (e.g. solidworks) is preferred. some experience with design optimization and simulation with analysis tools such as fea and cfd. demonstratable experience in design for manufacturability, including manufacturing process optimization support, and design for cost. understanding of quality systems, particularly design controls and risk management. understanding of medical device regulations preferred. experience in design for quality with tools such as fta, fmea, halt/hass. manufacturing process knowledge preferred. technical knowledge in development methodologies, design requirements, testing methodologies, and project implementation. knowledgeable of fda and iso guidelines for the development of medical devices preferred. strong communication skills and accountability to project deliverable timing and budgets required.
