job summary

uses equipment to collect samples of blood and other fluids from patients/residents; explains procedures to patients/residents and collects information from them in a professional manner. collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients/residents; ensures patient/resident safety during the sample collection process. records and documents patient/resident information accurately. follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures. communicates with patients/residents, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.

qualifications

high school diploma or general educational development diploma (ged) required.

completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred. may be required to have basic life support (bls) certification.
