job description

position title: sales manager, precitech

description:

precitech designs and manufactures ultra-precision machining solutions for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding which are used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components.  our diamond turning machines produce rotational symmetric, asymmetric, freeform, and sculpted geometries with form tolerances in the sub-micron range and nanometer-scale surface finishes.

the sales manager will combine an expertise in optics and surface metrology with an understanding of diamond turning machines and the markets we serve to support our customers and drive sales.  the sales manager will follow-up leads and opportunities as well as work with existing customers to configure machines and generate quotations for the north america market by working with the customer, applications engineering, and other inside resources.                               

specific duties: 

serve as the hub of activity; perform as the key interface between customers, field sales, service, marketing, production, and engineering achieve annual sales goals for the territory and accounts. assist in team-sale activities with our overseas sales team for global accounts. develop a deep understanding of customers’ needs in order to sell value-based solutions. act as an effective, credible internal advocate for customers in allocating resources to develop solutions that are timely, meet customer needs, and meet target pricing. upon receiving an order, manage the commercial side of order fulfillment including; facilitation of kick-off meetings, communication of delivery and order acknowledgement, project manager (unless assigned to someone else) of unique engineered products, oversee buy-off protocol. contribute to new product introductions by continually looking for new product ideas that fit with and compliment the capabilities of the company. work collaboratively with inside sales support, engineering, operations, marketing and other functional areas as necessary to develop and sell successful solutions to customer needs. develop, prioritize and implement account penetration and marketing strategies for key accounts and prospects.  continuously gather and report competitive intelligence to management and key functional areas including senior management, marketing, sales, engineering and operations. use precitech’s salesforce implementation to track customer inquiries, record leads, close opportunities, generate quotes, follow up with customers, forecast revenue and perform other sales and marketing analyses work with the customer account to manage terms, conditions and payments. prepare thorough and accurate product specifications, proposals, and quotations. provide thorough and accurate forecasts. provide detailed trip reports and relevant customer call reports. attend tradeshows2-4 times per year demonstrate a professional approach to the job with good interpersonal skills among customers and office staff travel to customer sites present proposals, resolve technical issues, and close orders  

knowledge, skills, and abilities:

b.s. in engineering.  bsme or bs physics a plus 5 years relevant experience. strong mechanical aptitude. knowledge of machine tools, ultra-precision machining, optics, surface metrology the ability to perform under deadlines and time pressures. strong sales and inter-personal skills.  strong entrepreneurial drive. the ability to persuade, negotiate, and work in a team environment. the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written proficient in all ms-office software (excel, powerpoint, word, etc.). expected travel, 20-30%
