buckeye partners is currently seeking a regional director, operations with 10+ years of pipeline, terminal and marine or rail experience in the oil & gas industry to join our team!

role summary:

manages and coordinates the safe, reliable, environmentally conscious and efficient operations in their respective region.  responsible for ensuring that all operations for the assigned region are in compliance with applicable regulations, in line with industry standards and company safety and operating management systems (soms), and promotes a high degree of customer satisfaction.

responsibilities and essential functions include:

direct, guide and develop operations managers across the region to ensure the safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient transportation, throughput and storage of petroleum products through pipelines and terminal facilities.ensure the safe execution of operations and maintenance activities across the region. ensure the execution of environmental compliance requirements and activities across the region, including implementation of environmental protection initiatives.ensure effective execution and insist on subordinate compliance with company safety, environmental, corrosion control, measurement and quality control, pipeline and terminal inventory, regulatory compliance, and operations program requirements.manage and coordinate operations activities for pipelines and terminals (marine, rail and/or truck) across the region.ensure completion of routine and regulatory required maintenance. ensure excellent reliability of assets by timely maintenance in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.manage and coordinate maintenance project activities across the region.assist accomplishment of return capital projects within region from inception through construction to turnover to local operations.ensure efficient operations by developing economical operating expense budgets for the region and controlling expenses within these limitations.   report on variances as required.drive consistency in operations across the region and in collaboration with peers.ensure consistent execution of key corporate initiatives, company policies and procedures.work closely with regional and corporate management for the continued integration and execution of all applicable soms standards. work closely with corporate operations excellence team to support the implementation of oe programs and continuous improvement initiatives across operating regions.prepare for emergencies via training of work force and education of public emergency responders.serve as incident commander and as company representative in the event of an emergency.continually improve operational efficiency, including implementation of new technology and equipment monitoring capabilities. ensure efficient communications up, down and across regional and departmental lines.audit field operations via on-site visits and ensure the timely correction of any discovered deficiencies.ensure that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.interact regularly with customers to ensure a high degree of satisfaction.and other duties as assigned.

position requirements:

bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or related discipline required.mba preferred. 10+ years related pipeline and/or terminal experience (truck rack, marine, rail) experience required.extensive experience managing oil and gas operations, maintenance and financial activities required.5+ years management experience required.up to 50% travel required.

certificates & licenses:

valid driver’s license

other skills, attributes and abilities:

a thorough knowledge of pipeline, marine, railcar maintenance, operations, safety, environmental, and emergency policies and practices is a must.regional work and emergency site visits put the incumbent in potentially hazardous situations and requires that person to be osha qualified medically to respond to hazardous materials emergencies.the incumbent is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and works extended hours to deal with routine and emergency conditions.the position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.  there is a significant amount of interpersonal activity and diplomatic skills are a necessity. there is also a significant amount of both operational and economic analysis skills required to solve problems and plan work, and this must often be done under time pressure after many hours and multiple distractions.this position also requires exceptional leadership skills, decision-making, and team participation and team development skills.

essential functions:

this position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ada, fmla and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.this role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ada, fmla and other federal, state and local standards.this position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

the incumbent must meet medical criteria established by osha for emergency response.this position may require exposure to hazardous environments and require the wearing of a respirator.while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.the employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others. this position requires the ability to work comfortably and safely in the proximity to open water.this position is subject to dot drug and alcohol regulations
