core responsibilities: 

provide leadership and direction in the coordination of all manufacturing and logistics activities, to meet or exceed customer quality and on-time delivery requirements, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. evaluate manufacturing costs, quality, and inventory control programs to ensure profitable operations. participate and make recommendations in the preparation of factory expenses, capital budgets and annual profit plan. develop and implement plans for efficient utilization of workforce, equipment, and materials for optimum results. establish production priorities and schedules consistent with unit goals. responsible for maintaining cost budgets within area of responsibilities. leverage the barnes enterprise system (bes) to ensure full implementation and utilization of the commercial, operational and financial excellence processes to effectively run the business and drive productivity. train, motivate, and create a continuous improvement environment where all employees are involved in kaizen / 6s activities, and actively contributing improvement suggestions. responsible for departmental problem solving and troubleshooting on a day-to-day basis. work with supply chain to meet quality and delivery requirements for the end customer. manage production planning support staff members and production team. prepare equipment specifications consistent with quality, quantity, delivery, and service levels required for the product line. responsible for proper maintenance of equipment and work area for an efficient, safe, and healthy environment. responsible to develop and deploy a capital plan that supports the growth requirements of the business strategy that you help to develop. attracts, develops and retains qualified, talented people, creating and sustaining a high-performance culture. organizes the business to execute and deliver promised results on a consistent basis – the right way. partner with functional team and union in the revamping of the local apprentice program to support workforce planning initiatives. establish measurements for all functions, monitor compliance and provide feedback to department personnel to improve performance.

 

qualifications: 

10+ years of related operations or manufacturing experience in a managerial role/position; experience in a unionized environment is highly preferred. demonstrated success leading and implementing change with ability to sustain a positive work environment. understand the technical nature of the products being manufactured and help as required. excellent leadership, communication and team skills required and ability to communicate change(s) effectively.  has the ability to influence, build commitment and overcome resistance. acts with integrity and the highest ethical behavior. proficiency in microsoft office (including excel, powerpoint, and word) and experience with production software (as400, sap)

 



education requirements:

bs. degree in engineering, business management, or related discipline. ms or mba is desirable six sigma certification a plus.
