Senior/principal scientist, cns gene therapy - united states, new bedford

proclinical is seeking an expert in cns indications to join the aav gene therapy research and vector development team. the successful applicant will join a motivated and dynamic team who will be responsible for working with fellow scientists to discover new cns targets, develop novel technologies and vectors to target cns diseases. this position requires working knowledge of neurobiology, molecular and cell biology, immunology, virology, protein expression, and/or aav gene therapy. this position reports to senior director/head of vector research and development.

job responsibilities:

lead discovery stage of pipeline programs, evaluate novel technologies and targets, and design aav gene therapy strategies to buildup cns pipeline programscontribute to construct design, capsid engineering, aav vector production and purificationconduct analytical quality control testing for the vectorslead in vitro and in vivo studies to screen gene therapy drug candidatesdesign experiments, collect and analyze data, write report and prepare data slides, and present data in meetingswork effectively with different cross-functional teams (e.g., in vivo pharmacology, bioanalytical, analytical, upstream and downstream process development, and etc.) to support key research objectives in a fast paced and interdisciplinary environmentcommunicate and manage external cro to support research activitiesoversee and report the progress of programs timely, stay on timelinesmaintain detailed and well-organized documentation with best industry practice

skills and requirements:

a ph.d. in molecular biology, cell biology, virology, neurobiology, immunology, or related discipline is requiredextensive hands-on experience with viral and non-viral vector design is requiredexperience with cell and gene therapy is preferredexperience with capsid engineering and discovery is a plusexperience with mirna design and therapy is a plusexperience with aav production and transduction is desirableextensive and excellent hands-on skills and experience with molecular biology, cell culture techniques, and cell-based assays are requiredproficient in cell culture, transfection, western, elisa, flow, pcr, and ddpcr techniquesoutstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skillsresponsible and efficient with the lab assignmentsproven track record of leading project or programs in academic and industrial settingscan do attitude and quick and high-quality executionability to work productively under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fluid, fast-paced team environmentexcellent oral and written communication skills, including preparation of the laboratory reports and presentations
