responsibilities:

kforce has a client in newport beach, ca that is seeking a network security engineer. while 100% remote is not offered for this position, we do offer a hybrid work schedule. candidates must be able to work at newport beach ca, omaha ne or lynchburg va locations. the client will also provide 10-15k in relocation.

summary:
as a network security engineer, this role will ensure that when security incidents occur, they are dealt with promptly and effectively, and that steps are taken to prevent them from reoccurring. the network security engineer will be collaborating with our corporate security team to design and build security controls to protect our environment. this person is the subject matter expert in firewall architecture and must have hands on experience with checkpoint firewalls in administration, configuration and policy management.

responsibilities:
plan, implement, and upgrade checkpoint firewalls
develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of shared, networked, and multi-user information security systems
stay on top of the latest information technology security trends; regularly attend conferences, professional association meetings, and technical symposia to remain aware of the latest information security technological developments
monitor and respond to security incidents; collaborate with cyber defense security to ensure prompt and effective resolution
build strong relationships outside of it to understand business needs

requirements:

one or more of the following certifications: gsec, ceh, cissp, cisa, gcih, oscp, aws/azure security (nice to have)
3+ years of supporting and operating firewalls
experience with checkpoint firewalls in administration, configuration and policy management
experience in configuration, installation, and problem determination on checkpoint (required), cisco asa and palo alto firewalls (a plus)
knowledge of virtualized technologies such as hyper-v or vmware
understanding of checkpoint firewalls
understanding of firewall acl's
ability to create and consolidate firewall rules
advanced excel knowledge and/or programming experience
experience with contracts including, but not limited to, drafting, negotiating and analyzing terms and conditions, and ensuring compliance
experience with execution of rfx activities
proficiency in erp (peoplesoft) and procurement systems highly preferred
strong planning and problem-solving skills
experience with physical/virtual checkpoint firewalls
knowledge of checkpoint smartconsole
experience in configuration, installation, and problem determination on checkpoint (required), cisco asa and palo alto firewalls (a plus)
experience in network data capturing and analysis
knowledge of virtualized technologies such as hyper-v or vmware
knowledge of ips/ids, waf, dlp, web content filtering related to network security
experience with cisco asa and palo alto firewalls a plus
