assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, testing and transporting specimens.
collects specimens using age appropriate techniques
maintains adequate stock of supplies.
follows standardized procedures to help prepare samples for testing.
maintains equipment and work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing.
communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
performs both manual and automated tests using computerized instruments and automation.
perfroms quality assurance work to ensure accuracy and ensure clia and joint commission compliance.
minimum education
graduate of a program in discipline preferred
required skills
requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
certifications:
basic life support (bls) **obtained within 30 days of hire.
