westpac labs, a division of sonic healthcare usa, is a network of three clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories with 60+ patient service centers in/or around san luis obispo, bakersfield, and the los angeles, ca area. 

westpac labs has an excellent opportunity for a vice president of operations in our santa fe springs, ca office.

the vice president of operations (vp) provides operational leadership for the division.  the vp directs and grows the business through effective leadership and management of all aspects of quality patient care, customer service, staffing and budget. practices cost containment strategies ensuring profitability and growth while adhering to compliance with applicable company and regulatory requirements.  the vp is also responsible to support divisional management with the development, implementation and management of divisional and company initiatives and strategies.

essential job duties:

 

oversees the assigned regions within the division providing leadership and guidance. promotes sonic healthcare’s medical leadership culture and collaborates with medical director to provide optimal patient care and superior support for clinicians and clients.interprets and implements company and divisional policies and procedures and directs and plans the activities of the assigned regions to ensure financial sustainability, profitability, increase productivity and maximize returns on investment.leads strategically with strong knowledge of industry practice and business principles.  works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company.provides leadership, guidance and coaching for all direct reports to maintain an engaged and productive workforce.  ensures the provision of outstanding patient care while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and company standards.accountable for driving all pertinent business initiatives, including prompt implementation of action plans to correct below threshold performance. participate in and support all quality assurance and quality improvement endeavors for the laboratory, as necessary.in addition to typical work schedule, may be scheduled to work weekends, work split shifts, overtime, holidays, and attend mandatory company meetings, as necessary.be required to perform other job duties, as necessary.

knowledge, skills, and abilities:


have knowledge of basic laboratory, phlebotomy, and clinical laboratory processes and safety procedures.demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, peers, vendors or clients.demonstrate the ability to engage in oral and written comprehension.be customer service oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills and maintain a positive and friendly attitude when interacting with patients, clients, and other departments.demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability.

required education and experience:


bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university.five (5) years or more experience in management (healthcare markets, primarily in the clinical laboratory)five (5) years or more experience in clinical laboratory. preferred education and experience:master’s degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university.bilingual in spanish is a plus.

travel:


meet applicable company insurance guidelines and release department of motor vehicles driving records if required to drive or operate a company vehicle in the performance of their duties. must comply with company driving policies and procedures.participate in occasional travel to interact with division personnel, attend meetings, or participate in educational training, as needed.
