Overview

this position reports to the vice chancellor for research. the building manager ensures the safe and efficient operation of services in the biomed research center (brc) buildings and other uams space under the control of the vice chancellor for research.

responsibilities

1. demonstrates high level of integrity and innovative thinking and actively contributes to the success of biomed research center and uams.
2. routinely inspects the building and other space designated for use by brc researchers and staff
3. initiate work orders, obtain estimates and monitor projects to ensure the timely completion of operational projects
within budget.
4. facilitates communication with uams campus operation as needed.
5. coordinates housekeeping, security, construction, physical plant maintenance, mail delivery, telephone and other
operational services for the biomed buildings.
6. stays apprised of and tracks space allocations within the brc buildings
7. coordinates construction and moving services as needed.
8. prepares reports, develops flowcharts and timelines, and communicates regularly with biomed buildings researchers
and staff.
9. promotes and models positive multidisciplinary collaboration and interaction with colleagues, management team and
other uams departments/divisions.
10. responds to trouble calls from police, faculty, staff and physical plant 24/7
11. facilitate and coordinate the biomed research center building committee bimonthly meetings
12. maintains knowledge and adheres to all uams policies and procedures.
13. performs other duties as assigned by the vice chancellor of research
14. appointed to emergency preparedness sub-committee
15. schedules and monitors classrooms in biomed buildings
16. schedules and coordinates bulletin boards use campus wide

qualifications

required:

high school diploma and 4 years' experience working with a property management organization or similar experience supportiing facility operations.

preferred:

knowledgeable in biohazard, chemical, radiation and hazardous materials safety.

familiarity with research laboratories and research equipment.
