examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.

minimum education
associate’s degree in respiratory therapy - required
minimum education
bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy - preferred
required skills
requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. computer skills required.

certifications:
bls certification from approved american heart association training center is required upon hire. acls, pals and nrp certification from approved american heart association training center is required within 1 year of employment.
required skills
licenses: licensed by the state of tennessee as a respiratory care practitioner with abg endorsement. temporary initial licensure letter by the state of tennessee as a graduate respiratory care practitioner, acceptable until state licensure is issued.
minimum work experience
minimum of 6 months respiratory care experience preferred
