we have an immediate opening in the southern wv area for a qualified transportation senior construction manager. the senior construction manager will be responsible for managing staff and managing large wvdot and locality projects, including design-bid-build and design-build projects. must have significant experience in roadway/bridge construction. experience on local government projects are a plus.  capable of leading a construction staff, be proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specifications and shop drawings as well as overseeing construction document controls and enforcing contract compliance. full wvdot materials certification preferred.

responsibilities:

duties and responsibilities may include: 

construction management – partial in office / partial fieldresolving field conflicts and disputescoordinating and running meetingsensuring staff is trainedoverseeing documentationperforming field inspection as requiredreviewing contractor schedules including initial cpm and monthly updatescommunicating effectively with the engineer, owner and owner's operational and field staff on a regular basiskeeping them apprised of field conditions and maintaining active communications and excellent rapport with the owner and the entire project team throughout the construction process coordination with various stakeholders and the traveling public oversee project safety


requirements:

25+ years of relevant experiencecertified as a tretcno – level v with the wvtret certification board – or equivalent, specifically: bs in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or similar technical degree, plus 7 years of technical experienceas in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or similar technical degree, plus 10 years of technical experienceexperience in construction inspection/management, design/build project management, and cpm scheduling preferred

must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel to and from assigned construction sites

must have good communication skills

must be able to read/interpret plans and specificationswriting and drawing skills are necessary to complete inspection reportsbasic computer skills (word & excel) are required for completing electronic inspection reports
