Manufacturing technician - grinder operator - united states, knoxville

bhs corrugated north america is seeking an experienced manufacturing technician to join our team at our production facility in knoxville, tennessee.

the job:

as a manufacturing technician with bhs corrugated, you will be responsible for providing fundamental operation of all machines and procedures to ensure manufacturing is completed in compliance with bhs procedures and quality requirements. 

you will do this by:

operate campbell flute grinders, including verification of automated measuring equipment, documentation of adjustments, and verify roll dimensions after grinding  operate smtw od grinder, including roll bodies, journals and reliefs. perform and participate in acquiring materials and parts required to maintain machinery and equipment. operate lathes for centering, turning journals and reliefs as required. perform quality verification using manual and automated measuring equipment. operate strip tank, install bearings, pressure test, and all other requirements to process rolls.   assist and support training other operators and establish 5s cleaning standards for machinery and other equipment.  utilize best behavioral safe practices and follow all safety procedures and instructions.  accept ownership of individual safety and maintaining constant safety awareness for self and fellow employeessignoff and complete all safety, quality and processing documentation. utilize shop floor computers as required to capture manufacturing related data towards customer orders. this includes process routings and labor tracking documentation in sap. perform basic preventative maintenance for all machines; this includes daily, weekly, monthly, and supporting annual preventative maintenance tasks

the experience:

a minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment is a must with previous experience using cnc machines.ability to read and understand engineering drawing, blue prints, and follow verbal instructions.ability to read and use digital calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and other measuring tools as needed.ability to verify calibration of gauges.flexible and urgent response schedule.ability to respond to unplanned downtime situations.available for all shifts and weekends.sap and ms office experience.
