job description summary

the cmc lead manufacturing engineer: has the engineering accountability associated with ownership of manufacturing equipment effectiveness and associated manufacturing process(es) of ceramic matrix composites (cmc’s) non-conventional machining (laser technologies).
this role will be responsible for processes supporting the machining of shaped cooling holes in ceramic matrix composite components utilizing laser drilling, laser ablation, and edm processes. the role will focus heavily on development and implementation of cnc machining programs via cad/cam.

translation of technical processes and methods to train and empower engineering peers, operators and technicians in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield effectiveness & equipment capabilityact seamlessly as manufacturing engineer and/or process engineer in areas of assignment and/or responsibilityestablish baseline operations / operational parameters, manage recipes, establish process capability, and drive process capability enhancementsdiligently pursue continuous improvement in tooling, equipment, training, error-proofing, and application of improved processes, methods, and/or technologieswillingness to work off-shift, respond to off-hours / on call / as needed in order to respond to equipment / process breakdown, issues, to minimize production disruption and ensure maximum equipment and process effectiveness

develop, define, implement, & control production process(es) including tooling, equipment, methods, and/or process effectiveness for assigned areas of responsibility and/or ownershipown identification and management / delivery of plant, equipment, process, method projects / initiatives to drive continued optimization of product line, both established and npi / new technologiesvalidate design specifications and shop floor application of new product(s), tools, equipment, processes and/or methodsexhibit ownership and take responsibility in attaining all aspects of production operation including safety, scheduling, quality, and team development in assigned areas

required qualifications

bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / ged with at least 4 years of experience in an equivalent manufacturing role )minimum of 3 years of experience in production process and equipmentability and willingness to work off-shift and respond to off-hours / on call / as needed
