Generator technician - united states, mansfield

essential duties and responsibilities:


perform diagnostic testing on several different manufactures of generators.


prepare written estimates for recommended corrective repairs noted during service calls and submit to service manager.



assist other technicians, customers and dealers with technical support in-person and in the field.


carry out instructions in written and/or diagram form.


perform problem solving and make logical decisions.


transport parts and tool to work sites.


clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed by following all documentation procedures as instructed per i-pad and go-formz


assist in instructing others techs in performing repairs as required.


communicate with customers and dealers in the support of generator troubleshooting.


follow all safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment.


2-4 years related experience needed.


must be available for 24/7 on call rotations and possible emergent situations.


provide and maintain personal tools.


clean driving record a must.


must be able to pass a background and drug screen.


must be self motivated and be able to work with virtually no supervison.


manage employees and contractors to properly maintain and test power system equipment including transformers, relays, breakers, and motor startersuse appropriate cummins systems to accurately complete and document work orders (wos) and time reports / trip sheetsperform scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment including transfer switches and switchgearwork closely with parts and sales departments and customersmaintain the operation and appearance of service vehicledevelop and/or reviews quotes for accuracy prior to communication to customerssubmitting completed and accurate expense and field service reports on a timely basisprepare equipment records and report both manually and on a computerdocument a customer's work order within standard repair timesmaintain a clean and safe work environmentobtain the customer's perception/interpretation of warranty coveragesrebuild and repair all parts of generators, including electrical ac and dc voltages,gasoline, diesel natural gas and propane enginesdevelop skill set and product knowledge through classroom, hands-on, and virtual trainingplan and lay out workhandle and resolve issues, problems and complaintslocated in bloomington, mn location but will be relocating to new facility in lakeville, mn springdiagnose and perform major and minor repairs to engines, involving inspection and replacement of broken or worn out partsremove or install parts on vehicleperform regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs on emergency power generator sets, ats' and fire pumpscommunicate the scheduling of work both internally and externally to the customer and ensure are always aware of timing and cost expectations
