the lead machine learning engineer role at navihealth, an optum division, will report to the director, data science.  in this role, you will design and build data ingestion/feature engineering pipelines and enable production deployment of machine learning algorithms and analytic tools that will promote enhanced decision support and improved solutions for our internal/external customers.  the ideal candidate will serve as both a solutions architect and a hands-on implementation engineer.  while focused on ai/ml engineering tasks, the candidate should also be able to participate in all aspects of the product development activities especially in areas of data integrations, data ingestion and work closely with it and product/business teams.

primary responsibilities:

lead architecture and design of azure based machine learning platform.  work with security and compliance teams to follow standards and address concerns lead end-to-end implementation of azure based ai/ml platform capabilities and features collaborate with navihealth product, business and it teams in designing and implementing machine learning solutions in production and testing/integrating with operational systems develop and manage positive relationships with optum and navihealth data scientists, cloud/technology and business teams mentor and coach junior data science engineers and data scientists on various data acquisition, data preparation, ml model management and other data science automations tasks introduce and evangelize best practices and design patterns for ml solutions operate within established methodologies, procedures and guidelines; work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

required qualifications:

bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, engineering, mathematics, applied sciences or related discipline 5+ years of experience in architecting, developing and deploying data solutions especially for analytics and machine learning projects 5+ years of experience with python, java/scala, shell scripting and rdbms experience in designing and developing/coding software components in bigdata including tools like nosql databases, kafka and spark/scala experience in implementing and automating unit tests and integration tests experience with devops, ci/cd and terraform expertise in azure ai/ml services and capabilities, including azure ml, azure databricks, aks, app service, azure data factory, azure devops/pipelines
