job summary:
supervises and oversees activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing plant equipment and machinery, buildings and grounds. plays a major role in the environmental management system (ems) and ehs for the facility. develops, plans and coordinates preventive maintenance program for equipment, machinery, tools, or buildings. responsible for maintenance, guarding and upgrade of building and equipment as well as activities concerned with design, construction and modification of equipment and machinery in littleton facility by performing the following duties.

essential duties and responsibilities:
-prepare and document several monthly journal entries and identify issues for which non-standard journal entries may be required
-with the assistance of the lead person, directs workers engaged in performing maintenance, repairs and upgrades of buildings, equipment and machinery.
-responsible for project management by identifying, recommending, coordinating and performing facility upgrades, improvements, safety and maintenance.
-prepares bid sheets for construction and acquisition requests.
-assembles and analyzes contract bids and submits recommendations to management for action.
-directs contracted projects to verify adherence to specification.
-oversees and works closely with lead to test newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.
-researches equipment and parts, initiates and processes necessary purchase requisitions for tools, equipment, supplies, etc.
-tracks inventory of spare parts, tools, equipment, supplies, etc.
-budgetary responsibilities for maintenance department, including compiles records of labor and material costs for facility.
-works closely with the management team on various safety related issues including, but not limited to guarding, loto, osha regulations, etc.
-maintains hazardous waste documentation in conjunction with the director of safety and environmental affairs.
-completes, maintains, and files necessary forms, reports, etc., in compliance with federal, state, and local rules.
-responsible for compliance withal local, state and federal rules, regulations, and statutes relating to hazardous materials, hazmat transportation, manifesting and industrial waste treatment.
-required to be trained in proper handling of hazardous waste in accordance with 40 cfr 265.16. due to the various waste generated within burndy.
-required to be trained in 40-hour emergency response in accordance with 29 cfr 1910.120. due to the various hazards associated with chemical handling and hazardous waste handling within the facility.
-inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
-develops and maintains preventative maintenance program by reviewing manufacturers' service manuals, facilitys usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance.
-oversees and ensures routine inspections and maintenance duties are prioritized and completed in a timely manner. responsibilities also include maintaining records of planned and completed maintenance work.
-estimates costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during scheduled maintenance.
-develops and coordinates plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment, machinery, etc.
-interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
-establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
-suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
-analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
-initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
-identifies and organizes training for maintenance personnel.
-responsible for maintaining company vehicles.
-may be trained in confined space, first aid, cpr and bloodborne pathogens.

supervisory responsibilities:
directly supervises employees in the maintenance. carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

education and/or experience:
four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience including developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.
extensive knowledge of all aspect of maintenance disciplines.
