summary:

directs the workflow in the production area on that shift by managing employees and projects. works with support groups as necessary.

job responsibilities:

oversee and directs production employees in a safe, quality-minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain production priorities as scheduled. removes obstacles to ensure that production requirements and customer demands are met. keeps direct reports focused and on task to meet department objectives. ensures the daily pre-shift meetings and other communication tools are used effectively. communicates with production manager and other plant personnel about production concerns, providing status reports as appropriate. follow escalation process follows and supports lmv automotive system’s and magna’s operating principles, including: magna employee charter – operating under its principles by treating all employees equally, fairly, and with dignity and respect without favoritism. open door policy – facilitates the process without fear of reprisal. solves issues by encouraging two-way, open, and friendly communication. c48 – listens to issues and concerns and responds within 48 hours 5s – maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy “everything has a place. everything in its place”. safety first - leads by example and enforces all of the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing ppe at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns.  promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard. company quality and environmental policies. core values – treat all employees equally, fairly, with dignity and respect, without favoritism, in accordance with company values. supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on employee opinion survey. conducts performance evaluations on employees that are tied to plant and company goals and provides regular feedback on work performance, utilizing individual corrective action plans if necessary. applies consistent and fair progressive discipline to employees when necessary and discusses such action with appropriate personnel. ensures all documentation is maintained, including associate documentation. displays the company’s core values on a regular and consistent basis. leads the department in the design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles. may be required to adjust shifts as necessary. perform other duties as assigned.
supervisory responsibilities:
has direct responsibility for production employees and team leaders on assigned shifts.
qualifications: 
education and/or experience: must have a high school diploma or ged. prefer three years of supervisory experience.
knowledge, skills, and abilities: must have good organizational and managerial skills to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously.  must be proficient in computer operations. must exhibit high integrity and honesty. ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, requirements, and business correspondences. ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups. ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriate. ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. ability to remain positive even under pressure. ability to calculate oa and downtime per assembly line
