bgis is currently seeking a  spatial data specialist to join the team in philadelphia, pa .

purpose statement:   

the temporary role will be an active technical specialist for the spatial data group (sdg). this person will be technical resource focused on capturing and editing onsite data to support the production of virtual location surveys (vls’s) for both internal and external clients.

the spatial data specialist position is responsible for completing virtual location surveys (vls’s) that includes collecting a digital file and photo galleries of the building elevations and digital floor plan file developed from the photo survey for engineering, workspace, construction, or other purposes.

responsibilities

technical activities and problem solving

captures onsite data forming the basis of the virtual location surveys (vls’s) using proprietary technology licensed specifically for bgis. clients may include commercial, institutional, and industrial organizations with real estate holdings throughout north america. conducts technical building science investigations for existing facilities. prepares technical findings resulting from investigations.

writing, reviewing, and editing reports

creates reports for the work products of the sdg including by not limited to vls’s.

site activities:

completes site activities related to collection of data and creation of vls’s.

required education, knowledge and abilities

associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent transferable job experience excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills proficiency in microsoft office and other relevant computer applications fundamental knowledge of building components and systems survey experience or knowledge ability to work independently and learn quickly strong written communication skills

physical demands and work environment 

ability and willingness to travel provide personal transportation for job visits to client sites valid current driver’s licenses working at heights training/certification preferred
