under broad direction of global engineering director, the hpm geomechanics advisor will function as discipline leader for geomechanics practice in hpm.  he/she operates with significant level of technical and/or operational independence in all assigned areas and will be responsible for developing hpm geomechanics domain capability and maintain technical excellence in drilling geomechanics, driving continual improvement, and mentoring project geomechanics specialists and staff drilling engineers.

the position also requires hands-on capability in executing and leading geomechanical projects when required, performing geomechanical analyses related to the full oil field life cycle, drilling/completion and reservoir geomechanics, developing workflows, and collaborating with other technical professionals in multi-disciplinary projects.

typically requires a minimum of masters of engineering, preferably in civil, mining, petroleum or mechanical engineering, and 15+ years of drilling or reservoir geomechanics experience with

solid background in geomechanics / geotechnical / rock mechanics /soil mechanics and fluid flow through porous media, good understanding of fundamentals of geomechanics including rock testing and interpretation methods, and geomechanical analysis methods and theoriesknowledge of pore pressure estimation and measurement techniques for 1d and 3d geomechanical modelingfamiliarity and prior experience with geomechanical analysis tools for geomechanical modeling and wellborehands on ability to perform geomechanical analyses such as, but not limited to:basic and advanced wellbore stability analysis sand production prediction analysis using analytical and numerical methodsfault re-activation, caprock integrity, subsidence and compaction analysiscoupled fluid-mechanical simulations geomechanical analyses related to casing damage, salt and creep, and thermal analysisinterpretation of well and laboratory tests:rock mechanics laboratory test results for rock characterizationmini-frac, lot, xlot, dfit test results for field stress estimationcurrent working knowledge state of the art geomechanical analysis packages, including numerical modeling software flac3d or abaqus.basic knowledge of reservoir engineering and drilling and completion practices is requireddemonstrated strong communication skills, and one who can effectively work in a team environmentfamiliarity with python

phd degree in related fields (civil/mechanical/mining/petroleum engineering) with 10+ of experience listed above is acceptable
