the role

experience of working in and implementing a zero-defect culture by providing robust corrective and preventative actions to non-conformances. assist with product and process continuous improvement implementing quality standards in each department.

as our hands on inspector, you will be responsible for executing inspection functions, both visual and dimensional, including correctly and properly using mechanical measuring devices and reporting such results required by procedure.

ensure incoming materials meet required quality standards.

responsible for identifying, reporting and raising quality issues/non-conformances then resolving them to ensure zero impact to the customer.

work independently to accomplish visual and dimensional mechanical inspection processes with minimal supervision to the highest quality department standard while adhering to best safety

support production, and other internal departments to further the interests of the company as a whole.

duties

use precision hand measuring devices such as vernier calipers, protractors, micrometers, weld gauges. knowledge/experience with iso 9001 quality management systems.perform first article inspections, inspection/audits, and dimensional reports. liaise with 3rd party inspection services as required.demonstrable experience of quality management systems / iso 9001 gained in an engineering or manufacturing environment.coordinate quality assurance activities to prevent the release of non-conforming productsidentify issues through internal departmental checks, carry out investigations and audits, identifying root cause and applying and follow up corrective actionslead quality investigations resulting from customer complaints liaising with the customers as required in a timely manner. attending meetings at client’s sites as required.support customer and regulatory surveillance visits. accompany third party auditors and ensure the close out of actions arising from audits. support supplier investigations as necessary.develop and maintain accurate quality documentation, calibration records, sop as required.report on key performance indicators for the department non-conformances and other relevant metrics.
experience/ skills

capable of producing dimensional reports/ fai in a fabrication environmentcompetent to conduct internal and supplier auditsable to read and work from fabrication technical informationstrong interpersonal and communication skillsstrong analytical, problem-solving skills and pro-active work ethicideally served an apprenticeship or equivalent in fabricationupdate on specifications and standards up to and including en15085 cl/2/en iso38343(beneficial but not essential)knowledge of steel fabrication processes such as laser cutting/punching, press-braking, welding, and powder coating processessupport on essential welding documents including wps/wpqr/weld qualifications witnessing/authorising production testing for en 15085 (beneficial but not essential) support on maintaining records of welding and welding related documents review and approval of sub-contractors incl weld documentation parent material s355 j2 +n or less/ 304l/316l/5083-6082 (beneficial but not essential) wsip an pcn qualified
