Project officer - parkinson's minds matter - united kingdom, northern ireland

every hour, two people are diagnosed with parkinson's. in fact, it's the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. so we urgently need new treatments, more support for people living with the condition and more funds to find a cure. in the last 50 years, we've invested more than gbp100 million in cutting-edge research to uncover the causes of parkinson's. we believe we're close to finding a solution. but not close enough. that's why we need more people like you.

we have bold and exciting ambitions for our new parkinson's minds matter project for people living with parkinson's and their carers across northern ireland. you will project manage and coordinate this innovative new health and wellbeing programme using community development principles.

you will take the lead on and work with a range of stakeholders to deliver the programme promoting good mental health and wellbeing and offering support to both people with parkinson's and their carers. key elements of the proposed project include the planning and delivery of information sessions, a wellbeing programme and parkinson's cafes.

this role is funded by the department of health and administered by the community foundation, northern ireland.

what you'll do

project manage and co-ordinate the parkinson's minds matter project in ni.

develop and deliver a mental health and wellbeing programme consisting of four elements.

ensure the geographic spread across urban and rural areas within each of the five health trusts and that the programme is fully accessible.

ensure that people affected by parkinson's are integral to the delivery of the programme.

provide a sustainable platform for volunteer management, managing expert speakers and tutors, and communicating with participants and beneficiaries of the programme.

ensure that the learning, from the innovative features of the programme, and our partnership working model, is shared across the voluntary and statutory sectors in ni.

what you'll bring

proven experience of working on a time limited project where sustainability is a fundamental part of the project design.

experience of working with volunteers.

experience of project management tools and techniques.

ability to prioritise own workload effectively and enable others to meet challenging deadlines.

proven experience and evidence of using creative ways of communicating messages.

experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools to work collaboratively and productively.

ability to build trusting relationships with a wide group of stakeholders.

proven experience of report writing and using success measures to ensure compliance with funding agreements.
